Service & Pricing FAQs

How much is a tankless water heater service call?

Our standard tankless water heater service call is $325 when paid by cash or check. Credit card transactions incur a 3.5% processing fee.

    • What is included: Up to 1.5 hours of onsite labor for routine maintenance, system de-scaling, or diagnostic repairs.
    • Extra charges: Service involving attics, crawl spaces, complex custom jobs, or non-warranty replacement parts will cost extra.
    • Warranty info: If parts are being provided under a manufacturer warranty, they must be physically on-site before our arrival to avoid a second trip fee. Please have your brand, model, and serial number ready so we can verify your warranty status. (Note: Noritz serial numbers follow a YEAR.MO-XXXXXX format).

Do you offer free estimates for tankless water heaters?
We offer free phone estimates exclusively for new tankless water heater installations. To provide an accurate phone quote, please have the following information ready:
    • Your email and street address
    • Your current water heater type and its exact location
    • Total shower/bathroom count in your home
    • Whether you currently utilize a hot water recirculation pump or a water softener
    • If you would like us to include the city building permit in your total estimate

Note: We do not offer free estimates for repairs. Repair diagnostic visits are treated as standard service calls and incur our regular service fee.

How much does a new tankless water heater installation cost?

The total installation cost varies based on your home’s total square footage and your overall water fixture count. These factors tell our technicians exactly what size heating system your property requires.

Does the price of a tankless water heater installation go up for bigger homes?

Yes. If you own a much larger property with a high number of bathrooms, the installation price increases from our starting baseline to accommodate the larger capacity unit or complex routing required.

Are there any rebates available for switching to a tankless water heater?

Yes. If you are converting your home from a traditional tank style heater to an energy-efficient tankless unit, you will likely qualify for an excellent utility promotion. The Southern California Gas Company currently offers an appliance upgrade rebate of up to $1,500 to significantly lower your upfront installation costs.

Technical & Troubleshooting FAQs

What is the warranty on a Noritz tankless water heater?

The heat exchanger warranty for a Noritz tankless water heater ranges from 3 years up to an industry-leading 25 years, depending heavily on the specific model and whether it is used in a residential or commercial application. All other internal components are covered by a 5-year limited warranty. Approved manufacturer defect labor costs are covered for 1 year.

Why should I install a tankless water heater instead of a regular water heater?

    • Unlimited Hot Water: Traditional tanks run empty if multiple people shower back-to-back, requiring 45 minutes to reheat. Tankless systems heat water on demand, providing hot water indefinitely.
    • Lower Monthly Utility Bills: You will typically use about 30% less gas heating your water.
    • Reclaimed Floor Space: Tankless units are roughly the size of a small suitcase and mount cleanly onto the wall.
    • Double the Lifespan: Tankless units are built for long-term durability and do not rust or burst like traditional steel tanks.

Will my tankless water heater work if there is a power outage?

No, tankless heaters require electricity to power their internal computer boards and automated components. If you live in an area prone to power outages (such as Mt. Baldy or the local foothills), you can connect your tankless unit to a standard computer battery backup system or a portable power generator. The system requires at least 120v by 5 amps and must produce a pure sine wave.

What should I do to treat hard water in my tankless system?

A true, salt-based Water Softener provides the ultimate protection against heavy hard water scale build-up. Alternatively, you can use specialized scale treatment devices designed to alter the chemical nature or remove scale-producing ions. Noritz America offers two excellent scale treatment devices: the Noritz H2Flow and the Noritz Scale Shield. The Falsken “Heater Treater” system also performs exceptionally well.

Does a Noritz tankless water heater have a pilot light?

No. All modern Noritz tankless units utilize an advanced electronic ignition system, meaning they do not have a standing pilot light like older, traditional tank-style water heaters.

What is the typical electrical amp draw of a Noritz tankless unit?

During normal operation, the typical electrical current draw for our units is low, sitting between 1 to 3 amps. It can reach up to 4 amps if the unit’s automatic freeze prevention cycles become active during cold weather.

Can I change the location of my new tankless water heater?

Yes, but moving the location is more expensive than a standard swap because we must reroute your water lines, gas lines, and venting infrastructure. A dedicated electrical outlet will also need to be installed at the new location. Note: We do not perform electrical wiring work; your new outlet must be provided by a licensed electrician ahead of time.

Why does it take so long for hot water to reach my shower or sink?

This delay is simply pipe “travel time,” which affects both conventional tanks and tankless systems. While a tankless heater creates hot water instantly, the existing cold water sitting inside your pipes must empty out before the hot water arrives. Longer, larger, or uninsulated pipe runs increase this delay. To shorten this travel time, we can install an external recirculation pump or configure a tankless model featuring a built-in hot water circulation system.
